don't worry, i am still down in st. john.

hi friends.

it has been a long long while since i have posted and i have taken almost zero pictures since then.

here's what's been happening:

CAMP has been happening.

we have had 4 "eco" camps. which means this:

kids come to camp.
we go swimming, hiking, and learning with them.
we do activities at our wet lab.
we try to make sure they don't kill eachother.
we have a local culture expert come in and teach them about local plants and play music for them.
we try and give local kids an opportunity they might not have otherwise.
after 3 days, they leave.
it's pretty great!

usually the kids have fun, and surprisingly we didn't have to send anyone home this year, good news all around!

so that filled up 2 solid weeks.

the last week has been a little bit of an adventure.

there was a group here that took over the whole camp, cabins, kitchen, etc. so all of us viers-ians had to lay low a little bit and just stay out of their way.

supposedly that meant vacation.

i actually had to work a couple of days doing random things, but we got to have a couple fun adventures. one day we went to a beach on the north shore called cinnamon bay (which just so happens to be where kenny chesney lives. didn't see him though). another day we went out to the east end to this place called vie's snack shack (BEST GARLIC CHICKEN EVERRRRR!!!!!!).

sometimes i think that i would like to become a vegetarian, and then things like vie's happens and i have to reconsider.

but during this week all us had to live in one cabin, so it was a bunkhouse full of 6 of the most amazing people ever and me hanging out for a week. it was the best part of the whole summer. we played games like charades and poop on my cat, we projected movies up onto the walls, we made meals together. IT WAS GREAT!

but the week of "vacation" is all over...which means....


SCIENCE CAMP!!!!!


which means.....

an entire week of 13-16 year olds (ugh!).

it will be a long week, but it is the last one before i get home!

i won't lie, i am counting down. who knew you could miss illinois so much? the island is wearing me down a bit, but i'm still having a ton of fun and enjoying myself.
