penguin parts

i have a LOT of mosquito bites.

oh and so does sarah. she has more than me actually. ACTUALLY she looks like she has chicken pox.

but more on that later.

SO many things have happened. most of the old crew from last year is back (minus emily, sad). but that means that TRINE got here, she's from denmark, and she is amazing. her name is pronounced trina, for those of you who are confused. ALSO hilary is back from new hampshire, so we are starting to get geared up for camps! my boss, randy brown, will get here on sunday. but now for the MOST important piece of information:

SARAH IS HERE!!!!

unsuccessful jumpy shot. not for lack of trying though. (there were 4 more of these)

we have tried to pack a lot of stuff into the short time she is here, and we have already been very successful.

sarah started off her first night here helping us recruit campers for our eco-camps.

all of these kids either came to camp last year or are coming this year! so great!

then the next day she got to help me co-lead a hike with hilary for this environmental youth program from puerto rico. this hike is cool bc it goes through the jungle and you can see all sorts of different ruins and stuff. it's neat. and then the hike ends at gorgeous reef bay beach! can't remember if i talked about it before.

so good. it ended up taking real long bc sarah and i had to stay back with a lady who almost died (she was a wuss).

anyway, we ended the hike at the sugar mill ruins at lameshur bay. the reason that this picture is so awkward is bc sarah was lactating (sweating) and then tried to cover it by crossing her arms. maximum awkwardness achieved.

MAX

the next day we went diving. YESSSSSS.

we used the same dive company that we all used the last time we went to st thomas. chris sawyer dive center is great bc they're all nice, they provide you with snacks, and they set up all your gear, AND (my favorite part) they point out small things that not everyone notices. LOVE that. not many pictures of our dive experience, but i did take a nice little photo of a site called "squidville."

there is actually an inlet of water that passes through there

gorgeous water, don't you think?

the same day we dove, sarah and i had lunch and hung out at the beach at the resort where the dive shop is located. the food was AWESOME. the beach was AWESOME. sarah got REALLY burned.....surprised?

that night we had the great idea to go out the same day we'd been diving. good choice? maybe? best choice? probably not, but tons of fun anyway.

we happened upon zach deputy playing at the beach bar. he's pretty great and is a one man band. he plays sections of songs and then loops them so they repeat to make an amazing song!

so it was really fun, hilary and i danced on the beach.

we were all wearing outfits that we wore ALL the time last year!

oh and i LOVE jumpy shots!

dale does NOT share an affinity for jumpy shots. he chose NOT to participate.

this was the best choice. not spectacular, but still pretty good!

THIS ONE however, is SO GREAT! we got such good air.

the next day, sarah and i did not want to do much of anything, but we decided to kayak and go snorkelling. here's something we found out:

SARAH IS REALLY GOOD AT BOTH OF THOSE. really good.

great success?

it was super fun, though. listen to the things we saw on just a short snorkel:

a baby nurse shark
3 lobster
2 HUGE puffer fish
3 squid (changing colors of course)
1 nassau grouper
and a couple barracuda, one of which was white and sitting on the ocean floor

here is the piece de resistance (that's probably spelled wrong)

sarah and i are going swimming with dolphins in tortola tomorrow!!

i'm tired of writing but more soon! LOVE TO EVERYONE!
